![]() If you are seeing steam then its 99% your radiator. If the cooling system overpressurizes the radiator cap should lift and hot coolant/steam should vent to the overflow tank. You should never vent steam unless things are completely broke. Torque is a good free one, but kinda limited to emissions data. ![]() Get an OBDC-II reader off ebay for like $5 and a free app for your phone. Until you do that you really shouldn't be changing anything. You need to pull OBDC-II water temp that will give you exactly what the water temp sensor sees, not the gauge. The gauge in the car is ridiculously inaccurate. When you say overheat what is happening? The gauge shows high? You're venting steam? Thanks for any help given and I will answer any other information, if I know the answer that you may need to help with this. I was wondering if anyone else has run into this issue or if anyone would be able to point me in the right direction for my next move? I will say the owner before me though it was the head gasket so he added the head gasket repair liquid stuff with the pellets, so I am wondering if that may have intensified the issue. The thing that is stumping me is that there is always lots of hot air coming out of the vents when the heat is turned on and cool air when it is turned to cold, so I have kind of ruled out the temp sensor that is above the thermostat housing. When the temp goes up, both fans turn on a they are suppose to and if it gets too hot and I shut the truck off, the fans will run for up to 5 mins with the truck not running to cool it back down. I have changed the water pump, thermostat and pressure cap on the reservoir. There is always heat in the cabin and if you rev the engine to 2000 rpm or so, the heat gauge will moved back down. When driving, the temperature is fine but when sitting in a drive thru or parked idling the truck will overheat. ![]() I recently purchased a 2005 Chevy Equinox. ![]()
